The Plateau is a neighbourhood
that has been home to several waves of immigrants over the last 150
years. Each group has left marks of its past, which enriches the
ongoing cultural life of the area. Today, next-door to McGill and
downtown, the Plateau is one of the trendiest (and most convenient)
places to live in Montreal. Grocery stores, drugstores, clothing
stores, cafés, restaurants, parks, galleries, Mount Royal,
metro stops, bus stops, and every other amenity of urban life can be
found within a few blocks of the residence. Follow the arrow to see
pictures of the neighbourhood.
On Sundays the local English Mennonite congregation meets in the gym.
Churches of most denominations can be found within a 30 minute walk of the residence. Our four closest church neighbours are all Catholic.
We are located near the corner of Duluth Est and Coloniale Street. Duluth is three streets south of Mt-Royal, and two streets north of Des Pins (which in turn is just a few streets north of Sherbrooke). Coloniale is two blocks east of St. Laurent.
Public Transportation
From the Green line: Get off at St. Laurent metro and catch the 55 North to Duluth. Walk east on Duluth to 120.
From the orange line: Get off at Mt-Royal metro. Walk west on Mt. Royal to St. Denis. Walk south on St. Denis to Duluth. Turn right (west) on to Duluth and walk four or five more blocks to 120.
By Bus
The Central Bus station connects to the Berri-UQAM metro station, which will allow you to take either the green or orange lines. Take the orange line in the direction of Henri-Bourassa or take the green line in the direction of Angrignon (follow public transportation instructions).
By Train
The train station connects to Bonaventure metro station, which is on the orange line. Get on the metro heading in the direction of Henri-Bourassa. (follow public transportation instructions)
By Plane
There is a shuttle from the P.E.T. airport that leaves every half-hour and ultimately arrives at the central bus station. (follow public transportation instructions)
By Car
Your best bet is to grab the Autoroute Ville-Marie to the Berri exit. Go north on Berri until Roy, turn left on Roy. Travel up Roy to St. Dominique and turn right. Then turn right on Duluth and down a block just past Coloniale. You may have to then scout around for parking. Watch out for the signs that have “no parking” for an hour at random times.
