Within walking distance of two of Montreal’s four major universities (and an easy commute of the other two), the Student Residence provides both a home, and a program of social action to bring your education outside of academia!
Community
Eight students live together, sharing meals, chores, study and play. Student residents will have the opportunity to attend two workshops per year on conflict resolution (once during autumn orientation and once during the winter retreat), and to put these principles into practice in their daily lives.
Volunteering
Volunteering while living at Maison de l'amitié gives residents an opportunity to engage in Quebec culture and local issues. Each resident will have the option of working on a project
for a local agency for two to four hours a week (flexible during exam periods!) to learn more about broader issues of poverty and inequality, and to gain practical work experience.
Language
The Residence Program is open to both French and English speaking students. The MA also offers French and English second-language classes available on-site.
Faith
The Maison de l’amitié is a work of the Mennonite church in Montreal, and reflects the following principles:
• We are called to be agents of God’s love in a broken world.
• We are called to be a community of reconciliation and mutual service, where those seeking and those giving help all find healing and wholeness.
• We are called to be peacemakers, working non-violently for justice in our community.
The Maison de l'amitié Residence welcomes Christian students and those students who respect the Christian faith.
